Welcome to the Aikido academy of riverside
What is Aikido?
Aikido (pronounced: eye-key-doh) is a martial art and specifically a modern Budo. The founder, Morihei Ueshiba or O’sensei (pictured above) reimaged the traditional perspectives of Budo from being the ‘art of war’ to the ‘art of resolve’. This new meaning is the understanding that the true practice of any martial art and the goal of any war is to resolve differences…without injury, death, and destruction. Don’t misunderstand, the techniques in Aikido are martial in nature and combat effective; it’s the way Aikido is practiced that makes all the difference.
The style of Aikido at the Aikido Academy of Riverside incorporates at least four stages of Aikido, mirroring the development of O’sensei’s creation of Aikido from static to fluid movements. Additionally, we use the wooden sword (bokken) and short four-foot staff (jo) in our training. Our instructors have decades of training and instruction experience and look forward to meeting you.
Our Purpose
We work to provide and not compromise on a high-quality martial arts experience for our new, current, and former Aikido students …as instilled by O’sensei.
